Description

Founded in 1846 by Hector Henderson, Caol Ila Distillery is located on the north-east coast of Islay, overlooking the Sound of Islay. Fully rebuilt in 1974 and now part of the Diageo portfolio, it has become the island’s largest distillery by production capacity while maintaining its distinctive character. Caol Ila is renowned for its peated style that combines smoke with elegance, often lighter and more maritime than some southern Islay counterparts. Its flagship 12 Year Old single malt displays notes of dry smoke, citrus and coastal salinity, with remarkable freshness and aromatic clarity.
