Bruichladdich
Description
Founded in 1881 by the Harvey brothers on the west coast of Islay, Bruichladdich Distillery is known for its independent mindset and forward-thinking approach. Closed in 1994 and revived in 2001 by a group of private investors, it played a significant role in Islay’s modern renaissance before becoming part of Rémy Cointreau in 2012. Bruichladdich is defined by its diversity of styles: unpeated single malts under the Bruichladdich name, the heavily peated Port Charlotte range, and the Octomore series, renowned for being among the most heavily peated whiskies in the world. The distillery emphasises barley provenance, transparency and natural presentation, with bottlings released without chill-filtration or added colouring, reflecting a maritime and contemporary Islay character.
